REPLACING PORTLIGHTS

Remove portlights is not difficult but long. Under the alu frames, you will find a bolt every 15 cm. Undo the wooden plates inside. Bolts are easy to remove but require 2 persons. Then the acrylic is glued and it may be hard to remove. Cut with a knife, put small wooden bits as you manage to push on the plastic from inside. You will need 2 or 3 old screw drivers as levers. The hull is thick enough and does not move.

I glued the new ones. The modern glues are good enough if well applied and you don't need theoretically to put the bolts back. You decide. The longest part here is to remove all the rests of old glue. It takes knife, fine sand paper, acetone and patience. For the glue, follow instructions. At the end I painted a 3 cm white stripe on the the acrylic outside instead of putting the alu frame back.

It took me half a day for each.
